Terms of Service

    Last updated: 11 September 2026

These Terms govern your use of scenespace. By creating an account you agree to them. Please read them carefully.

scenespace is operated by Scenespace Studios Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16806601. You can contact us at hello@scenespace.net.

    1. Your account

    • 1.1 You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. This reflects the minimum age required by the third-party AI providers we rely on to deliver the service.
    • 1.2 You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity that happens under your account.
    • 1.3 An account is personal to one person. You may not share your credentials or allow anyone else to use your account.
    • 1.4 You must give us accurate information when you register and keep it up to date.

    2. The service

    • 2.1 scenespace is a rehearsal tool for actors. It allows you to store scripts privately, generate synthesised speech, use AI-assisted script analysis and the Dramaturg, and rehearse scenes.
    • 2.2 Some features rely on artificial intelligence. AI output can be inaccurate or unsuitable and should be treated as a rehearsal aid rather than professional direction or advice.
    • 2.3 We may change, improve or add features over time. Where a change would materially reduce what a paid Plan provides, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email and you may cancel under clause 9 before it takes effect.

    3. Your content

    • 3.1 Your scenes, notes, highlights and annotations belong to you and remain yours regardless of your Plan. We do not delete your content because you have stopped paying.
    • 3.2 You grant us only the permission we need to operate the service for you: to store your content, display it back to you, and process it through our service providers to deliver the features you use. We do not use your content to train AI models.
    • 3.3 You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Do not upload material you do not have permission to use.

    4. Subscriptions

    • 4.1 We offer paid subscription plans ("Plans"). Each Plan gives full access to every feature. Plans differ only in how many new scenes you may create each month.
    • 4.2 The current Plans are Basic, which allows 3 new scenes each month, and Premium, which allows 10 new scenes each month. Current prices are shown in your account settings before you subscribe. All prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable.
    • 4.3 Plans are available on a monthly or annual basis. Your billing period begins on the date your first payment is taken and renews on the same date each month or year.
    • 4.4 A Plan is personal to you and to a single account. You may not share your account credentials or allow another person to use your Plan.
    • 4.5 Scene creation allowances are counted per calendar month and reset at 00:00 UTC on the first day of each month. This applies to monthly and annual Plans alike: an annual Plan provides the same monthly allowance, refreshed each calendar month, and not a single yearly total.
    • 4.6 Unused allowance does not carry over into the following month. Deleting a scene does not return the allowance used to create it.
    • 4.7 You may browse, search and read scenes in our public-domain scene library without limit and without using any allowance. Adding a scene from the library to your own library counts towards your monthly scene allowance in the same way as creating a scene yourself.
    • 4.8 The scene allowance applies only to creating new scenes. It never restricts your use of any feature on scenes already in your library. If you reach your allowance, you keep unlimited access to synthesised speech, the Dramaturg, analysis and rehearsal on everything you already have.

    5. Trials and complimentary access

    • 5.1 Where we offer a free trial, complimentary access, or access under an agreement with an educational institution, that access is provided at our discretion and for the period stated at the time it is granted.
    • 5.2 Trial and complimentary access do not automatically convert into a paid subscription. No payment card is required and none will be charged. When the period ends, your account moves to the Free tier described at clause 6.2 unless you choose a Plan.
    • 5.3 We may withdraw or vary trial or complimentary access at any time, other than where we have agreed a fixed term in writing with an educational institution.

    6. Free tier and what happens to your content

    • 6.1 Your content remains yours and is not deleted when a Plan or trial ends.
    • 6.2 If you do not hold an active Plan, your account moves to the Free tier. On the Free tier you may continue to view, annotate, organise, export and delete your existing scenes. You may not create new scenes or use features that rely on artificial intelligence or synthesised speech.
    • 6.3 If you downgrade from Premium to Basic, all content created while on Premium remains available to you. Only your allowance for creating new scenes changes.
    • 6.4 We may delete the account and content of a user who has held no active Plan and has not signed in for a continuous period of 24 months, on giving at least 30 days' notice by email to the address on the account.

    7. Payment and automatic renewal

    • 7.1 Payment is taken in advance for each billing period.
    • 7.2 Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price for your Plan, until you cancel. By subscribing you authorise us to charge your payment method on each renewal date.
    • 7.3 For annual Plans, we will send you a reminder by email at least 30 days before each renewal date, stating the renewal date and the amount that will be charged.
    • 7.4 Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details. Your use of Stripe's services is subject to Stripe's own terms.
    • 7.5 If a payment fails, we will attempt to take it again over a period of up to three weeks and will notify you by email. If payment has not succeeded at the end of that period, your Plan will end and your account will move to the Free tier.

    8. Right to cancel within 14 days

    • 8.1 As a consumer you normally have the right to cancel a contract for digital services within 14 days of entering into it and to receive a refund, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
    • 8.2 Because access to scenespace begins immediately, we ask you to confirm at checkout that:
"I want to start using scenespace straight away. I understand that once the service has been fully performed I will lose my right to cancel within 14 days and receive a refund."
    • 8.3 If you give that confirmation and then use the service, you will lose the right to a refund under clause 8.1 to the extent the service has been supplied. This does not affect your right to cancel future renewals at any time under clause 9, and does not affect your legal rights if the service is faulty or not as described.

    9. Cancellation

    • 9.1 You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings.
    • 9.2 Cancellation stops the next renewal. Your Plan remains active until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, after which your account moves to the Free tier.
    • 9.3 We do not require you to contact us, give a reason, or complete any additional step in order to cancel.
    • 9.4 If you delete your account while you hold an active Plan, your subscription is cancelled immediately. You will not be billed again, and we do not automatically refund the remainder of the period you have paid for. If you have recently renewed, please contact us at hello@scenespace.net.

    10. Refunds

    • 10.1 Except where required by law, and except as set out at clause 8, payments are non-refundable. This includes part-used monthly and annual periods.
    • 10.2 If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not provide pro-rata refunds for the unused portion.
    • 10.3 Clause 10.1 does not affect your legal rights where the service is faulty, not as described, or not supplied with reasonable care and skill.

    11. Changing your Plan

    • 11.1 Upgrades take effect immediately. Your scene allowance increases straight away, less any scenes you have already created in the current calendar month, and your renewal date does not change. The difference in price for the remainder of your billing period is calculated pro rata and added to your next invoice. Nothing is charged on the day you upgrade.
    • 11.2 Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep your existing Plan and its allowance until then. We do not refund the difference.
    • 11.3 Switching between monthly and annual billing on the same Plan takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Changing your Plan and your billing frequency at the same time is not available. You may make one change, then the other once it has taken effect.
    • 11.4 Where a change is scheduled to take effect at the end of your billing period, you may cancel that scheduled change in your account settings at any time before it applies.

    12. Price changes

    • 12.1 We may change the price of a Plan. We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before the change takes effect.
    • 12.2 The new price applies from your next renewal after the notice period. If you do not wish to continue at the new price, you may cancel under clause 9 before it takes effect.
    • 12.3 A price change never applies to a billing period you have already paid for.

    13. Acceptable use

13.1 You may not use scenespace to do anything unlawful, or to upload, generate or share material that:

    • (a) infringes someone else's rights;
    • (b) is defamatory, harassing, or threatening;
    • (c) is obscene or exploits or endangers children;
    • (d) violates any applicable law;
    • (e) contains malicious code or attempts to compromise the service.
    • 13.2 You may not attempt to circumvent Plan allowances, access controls or technical measures, access another user's account or content, or use automated means to extract data from the service.
    • 13.3 You may not resell, sublicense or commercially exploit access to scenespace without our written agreement.

    14. Suspension and termination

    • 14.1 We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, use the service unlawfully, or attempt to circumvent Plan allowances or access controls.
    • 14.2 Except where your breach makes it inappropriate to do so, we will give you notice and a reasonable opportunity to put things right first.
    • 14.3 If we terminate your Plan other than for your breach, we will refund the unused portion of your current billing period.
    • 14.4 On termination you will be given a reasonable opportunity to export your content before it is deleted.

    15. Privacy

15.1 How we handle your personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

    16. Liability

    • 16.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
    • 16.2 We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
    • 16.3 Subject to clause 16.1, our total liability to you in connection with the service will not exceed the greater of (i) the total fees you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (ii) £100.

    17. Changes to these Terms

    • 17.1 We may update these Terms. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before it takes effect.
    • 17.2 Continuing to use scenespace after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

    18. Consumer rights and complaints

    • 18.1 Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
    • 18.2 If something has gone wrong, please contact us at hello@scenespace.net and we will try to resolve it.
    • 18.3 These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
