How scenespace® works

Common questions about rehearsal, formatting, and privacy

Josh, Madeline and Shahin built scenespace® for actors, and for directors, writers and anyone drawn to the craft, whether you're training, working or coming back to it. It helps you learn lines, explore scenes and test ideas with a digital rehearsal partner. It supports your own interpretation rather than telling you what a scene means. It won't do the work for you. It gives you a place to explore, fail and rehearse with confidence before you step into the room. Read our full story.

    Here's how to get going:

    Start with a script

Upload a PDF or paste text on the homepage. Clean formatting helps scenespace read it properly. For the best results, split your script into scenes and upload each one separately.

    Explore it

    • Exploration: a quick breakdown of the key points in the scene
    • Dramaturg: a collaborator and sounding board for the choices you want to make
    • Immersive Mode: a distraction-free view for read-throughs or reading on the go
    • Learning Tools: highlight, underline and work with the text
    • Notes: everything you've captured, sorted into general notes and line notes

A few ways to start a conversation with the Dramaturg:

    • "What might my character really be trying to get in this moment?"
    • "Give me three different ways to play this line."
    • "What might be going on underneath what my character is saying here?"

    Rehearse it

Give each character a voice, then choose interactive, cue or listen mode depending on what you need. Use it to learn your lines.

    Discover it

Looking for new material? The Discover catalogue has scenes you can explore and import into your library. We add new scenes every month and email you when we do. If there's a classical text you'd like to see there, let us know.

    Take it with you

Print your scene with your notes attached, and choose what to include.
